Jennifer Kabat is the author of twinned memoirs, The Eighth Moon and Nightshining, published by Milkweed Editions in 2024 and 2025. Her writing has appeared in The Best American Essays, Granta, Frieze, 4Columns, New York Times Magazine, Harper’s, McSweeney’s, The Believer, Los Angeles Review of Books, The New York Review, and BOMB. She lives in rural New York, where she serves on her volunteer fire department.
She visited The Writer’s Kitchen during her fall 2025 residency at Callie’s in Berlin, where she was thinking about weeds, particularly Japanese Knotweed. While staying, she followed that trail of thought to the Hortus Botanicus and the Siebold Haus in Leiden.
